Yes on Arizona HB2280 the Criminal Trespass Bill

I sent the following e-mail to Arizona Representative Steve Montenegro, and a nearly identical version to Representative JP Weiers:
| Dear Representative Montenegro: I was very disappointed to learn that HB2280 did not pass in the House of Representatives. On the Arizona Legislature's website, I could find no break down of the vote, but I did see that neither you nor Representative JP Weiers was listed as a sponsor or cosponsor. This issue is very important to me. I do not feel that it is fair to force legal residents to pay for social services consumed by illegal aliens and their [often] large families. I know that the legislature can only consider bills submitted by the governor in the special session coming next week. However, the legislature is in a position to bargain with the governor in order to influence her to submit the bill. I hope that you will make your best effort to persuade her to do so, and that you will fully support its passage. One thing is certain--I will not consider voting for any tax increase unless the state government passes and enforces HB2280. Please let me know your views on this bill. Sincerely, John Lyon |
